I’ve always wanted to put up a job board website. It has been something I’ve kicked around for awhile, but never really went forward with until recently. So while I don’t have a new job board to introduce to you right now, I do have some solid reasons on why you should consider putting one up yourself.
First off I want to talk a little bit about the two major plugins I’ve found to be the best options for putting up a job board on your website. The first is WP Job Managerand the second is WP Job Board. Both are great solutions, however one is free and requires the use of add-ons to extend functionality while the other is $97 for a personal license and comes with a lot of features out of the box.
WP Job Manager is the free plugin, and the one I am using for my own job board. It’s a developer friendly solution with add-ons to help extend the features and functionality of the plugin. Like all plugins it requires some configuring, but it’s a great solution for putting up a job board on your website.
WP Job Board comes at a cost of $97 for a personal license, but there are numerous features built-in. It’s also easy to set up and use right out of the gate. Plus when you purchase the plugin, you get a theme with it as well.
Why should you have a job board? Job boards are a great way to earn an additional income, especially if you have a site that already gets a lot of traffic. With both plugins I mentioned, you can have paid listings. WP Job Manager has aWoocommerce add-on as well as another one called Simple Paid Listings. Both add-ons come at a price, $39 for the Woocommerce add-on and $19 for Simple Paid Listings, but they are both solid solutions for having paid listings. WP Job Board has this feature built in.
Another good reason to have a job board… they can attract a lot more traffic to your site. If you are looking to gain more subscribers or clients, this is a great way to do it. Adding a job board could help build your brand and give your site a nice boost in traffic. A good example of a site with great content and a lot of visitors that has a job board… Smashing Magazine.
Do yourself a favor and start looking into each solution to see which works best for you. You’ll have yourself a job board up and running in no time. You can thank me later. And be on the lookout for a post regarding my job board in the near future.
